Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Nartey Ogum, expressed his admiration for Accra Lions’ performance on Monday, following his team’s triumph in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season opener.

Prosper Nartey Ogum and his Porcupine Warriors ventured into the capital to face their Round 4 adversaries at the Accra Sports Stadium. After a grueling battle on the pitch, Asante Kotoko secured a late, dramatic victory with a goal scored in added time.

During a post-match interview with StarTimes, Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum commended Accra Lions for their tactical prowess, describing them as a highly intelligent team on the field, capable of making strategic moves and exploiting spaces effectively.

“They are a tactically astute team. They display remarkable intelligence with the ball and demonstrate exceptional movement into open spaces, so I anticipated a challenging match,” acknowledged the Asante Kotoko coach.

Elated with his team’s inaugural win of the season, Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum gave credit to the players, particularly the substitutes, for their contributions in overcoming Accra Lions. He emphasized the squad’s depth and quality, highlighting the importance of bench players in reading and analyzing the game, ultimately making crucial decisions on the field.

“We have a strong team with depth, and every player, whether on the bench or the field, has a vital role in reading and analyzing the game. I’m delighted that when called upon, they made the right decisions,” stated Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum.

Asante Kotoko’s next challenge in the Ghana Premier League will be against Aduana Stars in Round 5, where they aim to build on their recent success.
