Resident Imam at the Osu Castle, Sheikh Mohammed Bagaya has divulged that the presence of Coronavirus during the Ramadan celebration is a sign from God to all Muslims to focus on the substance of the worship and not the form.

In an interview with Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, he explained that the social gathering and fasting aspects of Ramadan are all forms of the Muslim’s worship and not the substance.

Referring to the substance of worship, he said: ‘Ramadan is a foundation pillar on itself, spiritually. Every Muslim must meet God halfway so that one’s relationship grows with God. Fasting is just a form, the substance is to have a relationship for 29 days”.

He believed that even though Muslims missed the social aspect of the Ramadan, the solemn celebration “gives Muslims the absolute connection to God”.

“This is probably a sign from God informing us to focus on the substance and not on the form. God is more focused on the substance and not the form. It is an unfortunate time in the life of humanity. But we wish that every Muslim is able to confidently focus on the substance of worship and not the form”, he added.
