With the world awaiting a cure or a vaccine to the COVID-19 pandemic, some medical experts have revealed that vaccines will not eradicate the virus at its roots.

But only the strict adherence to preventive measures and policies can save the world from this pandemic.

Epidemiologist, Dr. Ernest Kenu has supported this assertion on the Happy Morning Show hosted by Samuel Eshun on Happy98.9FM.

He asserted that vaccines cannot eradicate virus but rather subdue them temporarily.
“When a community is infected by a virus, it’s only the community that can overcome the virus. They can conquer the virus quickly by regarding the policies and directives”, he noted.

Dr. Kenu commended the government for doing good in the fight against the pandemic by instituting policies and preventive measures. He indicated, “Ghana did all these before the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) documented their measures. Our leaders are being thoughtful and proactive and this will save us from the pandemic”.

On his authority, if Ghanaians keep on regrading COVID-19 preventive measures and directives, “we can be safe in a month or two.”

He appealed to opinion leaders, the media and other institutions to hop on the campaign to educate Ghanaians on preventive measures against COVID-19 rather than focusing all our strength on unproductive things. Noting, “The virus is not picky and can affect anyone”.

He also advised Ghanaians to take charge of their own safety and also regard the President’s directive on mask wearing. “If you don’t have a mask, you can use a handkerchief or scarf to guard against infection or infecting others.
