The Majority Chief Whip and MP for South Dayi, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has expressed disappointment with the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) performance, stating that the resources provided were not meant for underperformance.
“We didn’t give you bulletproof cars not to deliver,” Dafeamekpor emphasized, highlighting the ¢250 million annual budget allocated to the OSP.
He questioned the value for money, given the office’s limited prosecutorial output.
Dafeamekpor cited the OSP’s mid-year report, which showed some improvement, but stressed that more needs to be done to address corruption in the country.
The MP clarified that his criticism isn’t an attack on the OSP’s existence but rather the office holder’s performance, calling for greater accountability and results.
