The Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has commended the strong and enduring partnership between Ghana and China, particularly in the area of military cooperation, during a commemorative event marking the 98th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

In a Facebook post, Dr. Boamah shared that while overseeing the deployment of military personnel to Bawku and other conflict-affected areas to restore peace and stability, he joined the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana to celebrate the PLA’s anniversary and the flourishing bilateral relations between the two nations.

“As we work to stabilize areas affected by the chieftaincy conflict and investigate reports of misconduct by some soldiers as directed by the President, I also took time to acknowledge our vital partnership with China,” he wrote.

Dr. Boamah praised the deep military cooperation and infrastructure support China has extended to Ghana, stating that such assistance has significantly enhanced the capabilities of the Ghana Armed Forces.

He highlighted the importance of continued collaboration, stressing that the friendship between the two countries contributes to global peace and security.

“We’re proud of the military cooperation, infrastructure development, and mutual support between our nations. China’s assistance has enhanced our military capabilities, and we appreciate their commitment to our collective security,” he said.

He also expressed optimism about the future of the Ghana-China relationship, urging both countries to continue nurturing their bond to promote a safer and more prosperous world.
