Deplorable roads: Residents and Drivers at Nsawam lament

Residents and drivers in Nsawam in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency of the Eastern Region have expressed concern about the deplorable nature of roads in the area. Speaking to Happyghana.com on the sidelines of Happy 98.9 FM’s Happy on Wheels show at the Nsawam lorry station, Mr Agyemang a driver at the station lamented that they are frustrated despite paying toll fees that are meant to address such issues.

Sadly, he indicated that designated bodies are not concerned about the maintenance of the roads. The poor road conditions are causing spare parts to wear out quickly, leading to added costs for drivers.

“The poor roads in Nsawam here are causing our spare parts to wear out quickly, you will buy spare part today and next month it will get spoilt due to the nature of the roads. The poor nature of the roads is having a devastating effect on our business. We are pleading with the Ministry of roads and our MP to help fix our roads,” he said.

The drivers bemoaned that the poor road network was not only aggravating the poverty situation in the area but also worsening their health conditions as they do not have access to quality health care services.
