A tragic incident occurred at Gomoa Buduburam in the Gomoa East District, resulting in the loss of several lives. A contractor working on the Kasoa-Winneba road was conducting blasting activities to pave way for construction. However, the blast went awry, causing widespread destruction and claiming multiple lives.

According to eyewitness Paa Kwesi, who was in the market purchasing items at the time, the contractor typically informs the community before blasting, but no warning was given this time. “Normally, they inform us before blasting, but today, we didn’t receive any warning,” she recounted.

The blast caused extensive damage to surrounding structures and vehicles, with reports indicating eight people lost their lives and several others injured. The devastating scene left the community reeling, with many struggling to come to terms with the unexpected tragedy.

The incident has sparked concern about the contractor’s adherence to safety protocols and the lack of communication with the community.

The Gomoa Buduburam community is still grappling with the aftermath, seeking answers and support for those affected by the disaster. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of prioritizing safety and communication in construction projects.
