Former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has declared that a future NPP government under his leadership will ensure that those responsible for the violence during the Ablekuma North parliamentary election rerun on July 11, 2025, are brought to justice.

Addressing party members at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium during the NPP’s National Delegates Conference on Saturday, July 19, Dr. Bawumia called on President John Dramani Mahama to ensure that the perpetrators of the violence are prosecuted.

He added that should the current administration fail to take action, a future NPP government in 2029 would pursue justice, stressing that “the elephant does not forget.”

Dr. Bawumia expressed that while he wished the conference was being held under more favourable conditions, the defeat in the December 7, 2024 elections had imparted valuable lessons to the party.

He said he was optimistic that the people of Ghana would once again grant the NPP the mandate to govern
