Former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to reinstate all workers who were dismissed under the John Mahama administration if elected President in 2029.

Speaking at the NPP headquarters on Thursday, August 28, 2025, after filing his nomination forms to contest in the party’s January 31, 2026 primaries, Dr. Bawumia criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government for failing Ghanaians despite its lofty promises.

According to him, the NDC’s much-publicized 24-hour economy was touted as a policy to create jobs for the youth, yet the administration ended up terminating contracts and dismissing workers when it assumed office.

He assured delegates and supporters that, if elected as the party’s flagbearer and subsequently as President in 2029, he would not only re-engage the affected workers but also expand opportunities through an inclusive governance agenda.

“A future Bawumia government will recognize and reward the sacrifices of our grassroots. Many have lost their jobs under the current government, and we will restore their appointments when we come to office in 2028,” Dr. Bawumia said.
