Member of Parliament for Builsa South constituency, Dr. Clement Apaak, has approved the disbursement of GH₵ 231,200 to assist 264 students with their school fees. The funding, drawn from his share of the common fund, aims to ease the financial challenges faced by students pursuing higher education.

According to a statement from Daniel Akogtu, the Deputy Communication Officer for Builsa NDC, the selected beneficiaries were chosen by Dr. Apaak’s Students’ Support Selection Committee from a pool of 426 applicants. The distribution reflects a commitment to gender equality, with 140 of the beneficiaries being female and 124 male.

In an authorization letter dated September 15, 2024, addressed to the Builsa South District Assembly, Dr. Apaak detailed the allocation of funds. A total of 182 students enrolled in various universities will each receive GH₵ 1,000, while 82 students from nursing and teacher training colleges will benefit from GH₵ 600 each. This financial support underscores Dr. Apaak’s ongoing focus on providing equal opportunities for students of all genders.

Since the launch of the student support initiative in 2017, Dr. Apaak has disbursed a total of GH₵ 747,000, benefiting 995 students over the years. Despite the program’s success, not all applicants could be accommodated due to budget constraints. Dr. Apaak has encouraged those who did not receive support this year to reapply in the future, assuring them that priority will be given to qualified applicants.
