Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, the parliamentary candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Abuakwa South constituency, has filed a defamation lawsuit against Member of Parliament (MP) Rockson-Nelson Etse Dafeamekpor and media conglomerate Multimedia Group Limited.
According to the writ cited by happyghana.com filed at the Accra High Court, Dr. Agyemang is seeking a declaration that statements made by Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor were defamatory towards him.
He is also demanding that the defendants retract the statements and issue an apology on the same platform where the alleged defamatory content was published.
Additionally, Dr. Agyeman is seeking GHS 20,000,000 (approximately $2 million) in damages from the defendants for the alleged defamation. The writ also calls for a perpetual injunction to prevent the defendants from further publishing the disputed content.
