2023 MTN FA Cups champions, Dreams FC, in a thrilling debut appearance on the continental stage, showcased determination and talent as they held Guinean outfit Milo FC de Kankan to a riveting 1-1 draw during their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round clash on Saturday.

The showdown, which unfolded at the General Lansana Conte Stadium in Conakry, was a testament to Dreams FC’s aspirations having played their inaugural match in a CAF inter-club competition.

The closely contested match concluded with Dreams FC rightfully clinching a well-earned draw, setting the stage for a highly anticipated second-leg encounter scheduled to ignite the Accra Sports Stadium next weekend.

Amidst the fervor of this remarkable achievement, General Manager Ameenu Shardow shared his reflections on the team’s remarkable journey.

Acknowledging the immense support garnered from the Ghana Football Association and fans, Shardow in an interview on Happy FM emphasized the importance of increased investment in the club’s CAF campaign, highlighting that only through such financial backing can Dreams FC successfully challenge opponents beyond their own weight class.

He passionately expressed, “Dreams FC is very grateful to all who supported us during our first game against Milo FC in Conakry, we are grateful. We have received support from the Ghana Football Association of which we are grateful but as we know competing in Africa needs a lot of Investment because that is the only way we can punch above our weights. I will urge anyone who wants to support the club to come on board.”

With the 1-1 draw acting as a firm foundation, Dreams FC is now firmly fixated on the forthcoming second leg, slated to electrify the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, August 27.

The team’s impressive performance in the initial leg has undoubtedly elevated their confidence, positioning them as resolute favorites to surge ahead in the competition.
