A new Commander has been appointed to lead the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Operations Team following a formal handing-over ceremony held in Accra.
The transition, which took place on April 7, 2026, at the National Police Training School, was announced in a statement by the Ghana Police Service, marking a change in leadership within the specialised unit.
The outgoing leader, DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil, officially handed over command responsibilities to Superintendent Augustine Dawson Amoah, who assumes the role as the new Commander.
He will be supported by three other senior officers to drive the operations of the team.
In his farewell remarks, DSP Abdul Jalil urged personnel of the unit to offer their full cooperation and support to the new leadership to ensure continuity and operational effectiveness.
Superintendent Amoah, in his address, pledged his commitment to effective leadership and called on members of the team to uphold unity, discipline, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
