The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals for allegedly plotting to assassinate a Chief in the Eastern Region.
The suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation that uncovered a plot to eliminate the Chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar scheduled for October 17, 2025, at Akyem Kwabeng.
According to a statement issued by DSP David Fianko-Okyere, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Command, police intelligence received on October 11, 2025, led to the infiltration of the suspects’ network.

During the operation, Emelia Akua Asor allegedly offered GHC 50,000.00 to undercover officers to carry out the assassination of the Chief and another woman believed to be set for installation as Queen Mother.
She reportedly instructed her accomplice, Butuakwa Seth, to assist in identifying the residences of the intended victims. Police say Butuakwa Seth later led officers to the homes of the Chief and the woman, and even provided a photograph of the Chief to facilitate the planned attack.
The suspects allegedly promised an additional GHC 50,000.00 upon completion of the crime.
Both suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court soon.
The statement assured the public that the Eastern South Regional Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, particularly traditional leaders in the region.
