The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced reasons for the disqualification of some presidential aspirants from participating in the 7th December General Elections.

According to the EC, the disqualification was due to the aspirants failure to correct errors on their nomination forms.

In a press conference organised by the EC on Friday 20th September, 2024, Chairperson Jean Mensa, said all disqualified candidates were provided with ample time to rectify the mistakes identified in their submissions but were unable to meet the requirements.

The disqualified candidates are Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP).

Others who were also affected by the decision of the EC include Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr. Samuel Sampong Ankrah, and Nii Amu Darko, Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).

The EC stressed that, the disqualification process was carried out in accordance with electoral regulations, ensuring fairness and transparency throughout the process.
