Election 2024: EC to implement regional results collation for increased electoral integrity

The Electoral Commission has announced plans to declare all presidential results for the December 2024 at each of the 16 regional collation centres before a final declaration at its national headquarters.

This was announced by the Deputy Chairperson in charge of Corporate Affairs, Dr. Bossman- Asare at the launch of the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) 2024 Election Day Observation and Post- elections activities.

According to him, ‘’for each constituency we’ve employed someone who is going to work as a collation officer. The commission has noticed that, two (2) days to the elections our district and returning officers do not get to rest, so we’ve decided to employ people with statistics and mathematics background to help with the collation’’.

“When you look at the structure of the presidential elections, the current CI 127,allows regional collation, so for the presidential elections, all the results would be taken from the polling stations to the constituency collation centers’’.

He explained that, from the constituency collation centers all results will be sent and finally collated at the regional center.

“At each level, the party would have its agent stationed to ensure fairness and transparency”, he added.
