The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is calling on Ghanaians to actively support the fight against corruption by reporting suspected illicit activities and hidden assets, as part of its national campaign, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).
An EOCO official Victoria Akegi Asamoah emphasized the critical role of public participation in uncovering corruption and recovering stolen state resources.
“The ordinary citizen is the reason why we are here today. EOCO, FIC, OSP we cannot do everything by ourselves.”
She urged citizens to volunteer credible information to EOCO, the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), especially regarding concealed properties and suspicious financial dealings.
“If you have information on any corrupt activity or property that somebody is hiding somewhere, offer that information… so we can take the investigation from there.
Ms. Asamoah also called on the media to help demystify EOCO’s legal framework and operations, noting that public misconceptions often stem from a lack of understanding of the agency’s mandate.
“We want the media to understand our laws… so they can inform the public of the legal processes,” she said. “People don’t always understand, and the media has the platform to clarify that.”
She stressed that EOCO’s work is grounded in law not politics and that public trust is essential to the success of anti-corruption efforts.
“Let’s set aside partisan politics and allow these institutions to do their work.
