Former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Bekoe has proposed that Ghanaian clubs should emulate the European style of paying players weekly if they intend to scrap the signing-on fees.

Happy Sports has gathered that some clubs in the country are considering undertaking this policy to ensure players are paid well and also relief the clubs from accruing more debts.

In the proposed policy, clubs will stop paying the signing on-fees of players and then spread them on their monthly salary.

Eric Bekoe in an interview on Wamputu Sports with Odiasempa Kwame Oware shared his view on the proposed policy by the clubs.

“They should rather consider the weekly salary if they intend to stop paying the signing-on fees”, he told Happy 98.9FM.

“They have to consider other factors as well. In my opinion this will be more professional like what is done in Europe. It will even urge the players on to play well for their clubs”.

Bekoe also added that Asante Kotoko should have pulled out of the CAF Champions League and prepare well.

“I thought this was the time they will take time and put their house in order before going to Africa. Going to Africa is a trap but we hope everything goes well. In my opinion, they should have pulled out of this year’s competition and prepare well for the next one”.
