Even Oscar Awards has issues – Prince Mackay, RTP CEO to critics

CEO for the Radio and Television Awards (RTP), Prince Mackay has revealed that no award scheme is perfect, not even the Oscars Awards.
This is with regards to several criticisms directed at the Radio and Television Awards and the way it’s been organized over the years.
According to him, every Award has issues, because organizers cannot satisfy nominees like they would have preferred.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra he said, “Every Award scheme has issues, there are several radio stations and television stations, so you can not satisfy everyone. Those who win are always excited, but those who fail to win always have issues.”
“Even with the Oscars people always say they should not be nominated. Even if you organize RTP Awards for 30 years, you can be never appreciated by everybody.”
Nonetheless, although the Radio and Television Awards nomination which happens every year has been opened and closed already, some presenters and Ghanaians are not aware, but according to Prince Mackay, everything happened on their websites, so he disagrees with the subject that, this year’s publicity was weak.
“Nomination for this year’s RTP Awards has closed. It was opened a month ago and closed on the second of this month. We place everything on our websites, so people are supposed to go on our websites and check everything about our programs and RTP Awards,” he disclosed.
Mr. Prince Mackay cited that, last year they had over 6,700 entries.
He however revealed in an interview last year that, RTP is the most credible Award Scheme in Ghana.
He also stressed on a new Gospel African festival they are about to introduce, this will be organized for gospel musicians only.
“We are out with a new program, Africa Gospel Award Festival which is everything about Gospel music and it will be launched at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Accra,” he said.
