Everton are ready to make a move for Rennes forward Kamaldeen Sulemana, according to multiple reports.

The Blues are yet to make their first signing of the January transfer window. That’s despite being linked with a host of players since the start of the month and despite the fact that it’s clear that under-pressure manager Frank Lampard needs reinforcements.

Lampard’s side went down 2-1 at home to fellow strugglers Southampton on Saturday and are now level on points at the bottom of the Premier League. One of Everton’s biggest problems is scoring goals following the summer exit of talisman Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur.

Little wonder, then, that most of the players being tipped with a move to Goodison Park are attackers. And the latest name in the frame is said to be is Ghana international Sulemana.

Fabrizio Romano says the Blues are exploring a deal to sign the 20-year-old. That has been backed by Paul Joyce in The Times and Simon Jones in The Mail.

It has been claimed that Sulemana, who typically plays as a left-winger, would be open to the idea of leaving Rennes this month. The report from Romano adds that Everton are considering a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy.

Fellow Premier League clubs Bournemouth and Newcastle United have also been listed as potential suitors for Sulemana. Bundesliga outfit Augsburg are also said to be interested

Sulemana signed for Rennes from FC Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2021, in a deal worth up to €20m (£18m). However, he has made just 18 appearances this season and could now be on his way out as he chases more game time.
