Fidelity Bank Ghana has completed the refurbishment of six classrooms and the construction of four-cubicle urinal units at La-Bawaleshie Presby ‘2’ Basic School in Accra, marking the 14th school to be transformed under the bank’s Orange Impact Initiative since its launch in 2022.

The commissioning ceremony brought together the Ayawaso West Municipal Director of Education, Judith Amoateng Ennin, the school’s Headmaster, Rev. Charlemagne Osae Aryee, teachers, parents, students, and representatives of the Presbyterian Church leadership.
Beryl Kafui Kwawukume-Ntiri the Regional Sales and Services Manager South East Sector, representing Managing Director Julian Opuni, delivered remarks on behalf of the bank.

“Every child deserves a learning environment that respects their potential and protects their dignity,” Ms. Kwawukume-Ntiri said. “When classrooms are worn out and faded, it does more than just look unpleasant — it dampens the enthusiasm of students and makes the hard work of teaching even harder. When basic sanitation facilities are inadequate, it goes beyond mere inconvenience. It affects the health, comfort, and most importantly, the dignity of our children.”

The intervention at La-Bawaleshie addressed both of those realities directly. The six refurbished classrooms have been redesigned to create bright, modern, and more conducive learning spaces, while the newly constructed sanitation facilities ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for the school’s student population.

The Orange Impact Initiative was launched as part of Fidelity Bank’s 15th anniversary commitment to invest in schools across Ghana that needed support. Since 2022, the programme has reached 14 schools across several eight regions, including Duose D/A Primary School, Mamprobi Ebenezer 4, Okogyeasuo MA Basic School, Fodome Kordzeto M/A Primary and JHS, Nyameyekrom M/A KG and Primary, Accra Royal JHS, AbbeyKorpe DA Basic School, Techiman Baptist Basic School, Pakyi Banko M/A Basic School, the Tesano Cluster of Schools — which received a state-of-the-art e-library in 2025 — Atampuurum B KG/Primary School, Tema Community 1 Day Care Centre at Site 10, and Assin Wurakese

Receiving the refurbished facilities on behalf of the school, Headmaster Rev. Charlemagne Osae Aryee expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank for responding to the school’s infrastructure needs and creating a more conducive learning environment for both pupils and teachers.

He described the intervention as one that would have a lasting impact on teaching and learning, adding that improved facilities contribute significantly to students’ confidence, health and academic performance.

The Ayawaso West Municipal Director of Education, Judith Amoateng Ennin, also commended Fidelity Bank for complementing government’s efforts to improve educational infrastructure and creating learning spaces that promote academic excellence and child development.

Ms. Kwawukume-Ntiri connected the initiative to the bank’s broader identity and purpose. “At Fidelity Bank, our core philosophy is captured in our promise: Here for Your Journey,” she said. “We believe that a child’s journey toward success begins long before they enter the professional world. It begins right here, in the classroom. By improving both the learning spaces and the sanitary facilities, we are investing in the holistic well-being of the students.”

For Fidelity Bank, the commissioning of La-Bawaleshie Presby ‘2’ Basic School represents more than a completed project. It is a continuation of a long-term commitment in creating learning environments that empower young people to reach their full potential while contributing to sustainable national development
