First year House Officers at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have declared intent to strike from Tuesday , November 12, 2024 over delays in receiving their allowances.

The House Officers in a letter, mentioned that their allowances have delayed which is currently affecting them.

“In the event that a resolution cannot be found, please be officially informed that from 12th November, we will no longer be able to report for duty, as continuing under these circumstances is unsustainable”.

According to them, they are unable to sustain themselves which is affecting their level of care to patients.

“ we are unable to sustain ourselves and, by extension, our ability to provide the level of care that our patients deserve”.

The First Year officers have however called on authorities for a meeting before the scheduled strike period to avert the strike action.

“We humbly request an opportunity to meet with you at your earliest convenience to discuss the factors contributing to these delays and work together to find a prompt solution”.

In a letter cited by happyGhana.com, the Leader of the group, Dr. Alexander Karikari Bonsu mentioned that, they are looking forward to a transparent and open communication with authorities of the Korle- Bu teaching Hospital.

“We believe that transparency and open communication are crucial to addressing this matter effectively.”
