Forget NC, let’s focus on bringing football back- Fred Achee

Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Premier League side Ashanti Gold SC, Frederick Acheampong -known in the sports fraternity as Fred Achee- is pleading with the sixteen Ghana Premier League clubs to ignore Normalization Committee’s refusal to apologize to the clubs even after the Parliamentary Select Committee on culture, youth and sports had asked them to retract their comments and apologize.

The Normalization Committee led by Dr. Kofi Amoah, last week released a statement confirming the cancellation of a proposed special competition which was due to kickoff this month.
The statement signed the spokesperson, Dan Kweku Yeboah, had unpleasant words, referring to club owners as greedy, selfish and braggadocio.

Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Wamputu Sports’ on Tuesday, Alex Kofi Agyekum, Chairman of Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture admitted that the statement of the NC to the clubs was unfortunate, revealing that they had been directed to apologize to the clubs.
However, the Normalization committee has chosen to explain the words rather than apologizing, as directed by the Legislators of the country.

Speaking to Ohene Bampoe–Brenya on Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo Sports’, Frederick Acheampong urged the clubs to forget everything and concentrate on bringing back football to Ghana.

“Apologizing for what you do wrong doesn’t kill anyone but it seems the Normalization committee won’t apologize. That letter they brought out as an apology letter is not an apology letter but rather admitting that they did something wrong,”-he stated.

“I will urge the premier league clubs to let it go in the interest of Ghana football because I don’t think they will apologize. Ideally after the Normalization committee meeting with the parliamentary select committee on youth, culture and sports, they should have pulled down the earlier post and drafted a nice apology letter but that’s not the case”- the CEO stated.
