The Ga Mashie Traditional Council has summoned 15 churches, including Calvary Baptist Church and Lighthouse Chapel, to appear before it for allegedly violating the ban on drumming and noise-making that started on May 12, 2025.

Taskforce leader Asafoatse Mankatta confirmed the summons, stating the churches were clapping during services despite the directive.

“We have great respect for Calvary Baptist Church, but we were surprised to see them violating the orders of the Traditional Council; they were making noise as if there was nothing at stake,” he said.

The churches are expected to appear before the Council on Thursday, May 22, or face dire consequences.

Some churches reportedly refused to accept the summons letters.

“During the ban, churches can sing but are prohibited from clapping and drumming. Those with soundproof structures that prevent noise from escaping might be exempt” Taskforce leader added.
