Management member for Real Tamale United, Alhaji Habib, says the Ghana Football Association (GFA) must bring up a policy to test players and quarantine them if it decides to continue with the league.

The GFA on Wednesday April 29, 2020 held a meeting with clubs in the Division One Zone A to discuss whether the current season should be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

16 out of the 18 clubs voted for the league to be truncated due to the pandemic.

Alhaji Habib mentioned that in order not to spread the virus and also ensure the safety of teams and officials, Football should be put on hold until the pandemic is over.

Speaking in an interview with Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM he said, “If the FA will bring up a policy to test the players we have no problem to continue the league”.

“If the league is going to resume we don’t have the resources to test our players coming from other regions.

“We have no resources to quarantine or test them. What we can do now to prevent the spread is to test all the players or stop intercity movements of clubs”.

He furthered that the decision to truncate this season is not based on their position on the league log.
Real Tamale United were placed 13th on the table before the league was suspended.

He believes if football should return then the GFA must bring a policy to ensure players are tested and quarantine when they return to their clubs.

The GFA will be holding a series of meetings with the clubs to decide the future of the league in the coming days.
