George Garway, President for the Ningo-Prampram Development Association says the demonstration held by some concerned residents and traditional leaders of the community were targeted at making an input into the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to offer the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, Prampram as an isolation center in fight against the Covid-19.

The GFA had informed government on the availability of the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Execellence, Prampram to be used as an isolation center.

According to the GFA, the national camping site is part of its contribution in fight against the deadly disease.

Residents and leaders in Prampram agitated for their views to be heard before the GFA’s decision to hand over the facility which is situated in their community.

Speaking in an interview on Happy FM’s Sports show, George Garway stated the demonstration was peaceful as they wanted more clarification on the matter which led to the demonstration, “The GFA should have considered the views of the authorities in Prampram before giving out the facility. The demonstration held was because of that”.

“After the demonstration a meeting was held between some key government officials and the leaders of Prampram.

“Mass testing is currently going on at Prampram and two people have been confirmed positive. The facility will also benefit the people of Prampram now that we recording cases”, he added. 18 people were arrested during the demonstration on Sunday
