“GFA’s conduct is disrespectful to Kotoko” – Nana Dankwah

Nana Kwame Dankwah, the Accra Representative of Asante Kotoko has said, they felt disrespected by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the latter’s failure to responded to a correspondence dated May 27, for clarification on issues bothering the Special Competition.

In an interview with the GNA Sports, Nana Dankwah said, the disrespectful conduct of the GFA’s Normalisation Committee, had compelled them to pull out of the competition.

“I’m told they have written back to us after a long silence. Our statement is clear, we can only accept to play on a neutral ground and then share the proceeds equally, anything apart from that they should forget it, we have pulled out of the competition.

“It took them a whole week to respond to our letter. Had it not been our second letter they wouldn’t have responded to our letter and we feel that it is total disrespect to the institution Asante Kotoko,” he said.

He stated that, the club’s decision would not affect their participation in the Tier Two competition, adding that they had weighed every possible implication of their decision and were ready to face it.

“We are withdrawing from the Tier One. Infect we have decided to pull out from the NC competitions but based upon advise from the Executive Chairman after our meeting with him yesterday he advised us that we should rather go ahead and play the Tier two because we have no issues with that.

“We have considered all the options including even sanctions when you pull out from a competition. When we get there, we would also have a point of arguing our case with the FA, because we were supposed to play two leg matches and even if, for any reason we were not given a copy to sign for the revised one,” he added.

Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak were billed to play the semi-final clash on Sunday, June 16 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
