GHALCA Top 4: Hearts of Oak beat Heart of Lions again to seal back-to-back wins

Accra Hearts of Oak made it two wins in three days over Heart of Lions, grinding out a 1-0 victory on Wednesday night at the University of Ghana Stadium in the ongoing 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament.

The Phobians had already beaten Lions 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to lift the Homowo Cup, and they carried that momentum into midweek action.

Wednesday’s clash was settled just before halftime when Ransford Mensah’s free kick took a wicked deflection and wrong-footed the goalkeeper, handing Hearts the decisive lead.

Despite a lively second half, neither side could add to the scoreline as Hearts held firm to complete the double over their opponents.

Head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani rang the changes for this game, resting key names such as captain Benjamin Asare, Kelvin Osei Asibey and Hamzah Issah, but his rotated side still delivered.

The Phobians will now turn their attention to a big test against Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani GoldStars on Friday, while Heart of Lions prepare to face Asante Kotoko.
