The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed the arrest of two of its personnel in connection with an alleged extortion incident at LongShine Mining Company Limited in Prestea-Obouhu, Western Region.
In a statement issued and signed by Navy Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the GAF said the soldiers were arrested alongside some civilian accomplices on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
The Armed Forces noted that it is working with the Ghana Police Service to investigate the matter and assured the public that any personnel found culpable will face the law just like any other citizen.
This confirmation follows media reports earlier this week that two soldiers and civilians had been arrested at Prestea for attempting to rob a mining site.
“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to assure the general public that it will not shield its personnel involved in criminal activities,” the statement stressed.
