GAF Recruitment Resumes Today with New Safety Rules After El-Wak Tragedy

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the temporary suspension of its ongoing recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region following a tragic incident that occurred at the El-Wak Sports Stadium on Wednesday morning.

In a statement issued and signed by Captain (GN) Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the Armed Forces expressed deep regret over the fatal incident, which took place during the 2025/2026 recruitment process.

The suspension is to allow authorities to put in place additional measures to ensure a safer and smoother exercise when it resumes.

“A Board of Inquiry has been constituted to unravel the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident,” the statement said.

GAF, however, indicated that recruitment processes in the other fifteen regions of the country will continue as scheduled.

“The Armed Forces deeply regrets any inconvenience this suspension may have caused the general public, particularly affected applicants. Applicants will be informed of the date of resumption of the process later,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, GAF says it remains committed to conducting a transparent and orderly recruitment process as investigations continue into the tragic event at El-Wak Stadium.
