The maiden edition of the Ghana Herbal Conference has been officially launched with a special on-air session, spotlighting the nation’s commitment to preserving and promoting herbal medicine as a powerful tool for national health and development.

The upcoming conference themed “Harmony in Herbalism: Balancing Tradition & Innovation” seeks to elevate traditional and herbal medicine by fostering collaboration among practitioners, researchers, regulators, and the public.

The three-day event, scheduled to take place from November 20 to 22, 2025, at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi, will feature plenary sessions, exhibitions, product showcases, stakeholder engagements, and live herbal demonstrations.

Speaking at the launch, the Head of Events at Global Media Alliance and Project Lead of the Planning Committee, Mr. Jerry Ofori, noted the conference was borne out of the critical need to reposition herbal medicine within Ghana’s formal healthcare space.
“This conference is not just an event; it is a movement,” Mr. Ofori emphasized. “We are inviting all Ghanaians to reconnect with our roots and embrace the remedies passed down through generations. Herbal medicine is our identity, our economy, and our future,” he added.

For his part, General Secretary of the Ghana Federation of Traditional Medicine Practitioners Associations (GHAFTRAM), Nana Asare, commended the collaborative effort behind the initiative and reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to the success of the conference.
“This is a proud moment for our industry,” he said. “We are honoured to partner on this historic platform, which will empower practitioners, build public trust, and promote regulation that enhances the credibility of our work. Together, we affirm that a healthy nation is truly a wealthy nation.”

The initiative is proudly supported by the Ministry of Health, Food and Drugs Authority, Ghana Federation of Traditional Medicine Practitioners Associations (GHAFTRAM), Traditional Medicine Practice Council and Centre for Plant Medicine Research.

The general public, herbal entrepreneurs, and industry stakeholders are encouraged to register early via www.ghanaherbalconference.com and follow @GMAHerbalConference on all social media platforms for updates.
