The Government of Ghana has announced a groundbreaking reform in passport acquisition, the introduction of a 1-Day Passport Delivery Service, aimed at providing citizens with a faster and more responsive option for obtaining travel documents during emergencies.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the new service will officially take effect on Thursday, November 13, 2025, and is designed to address urgent situations such as medical emergencies or last-minute travel needs.

“This bold and innovative reform ensures that Ghanaians can now receive their passports within a single day,” the statement said. “From discovering your passport has expired on your way to the airport to dealing with emergency travel for health or family reasons we have got you covered.”

Officials, however, emphasized that special charges will apply for the expedited service. The Ministry clarified that the standard GHS 350 application fee remains unchanged for regular processing, which guarantees passport delivery within 15 days or less.

The new initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the government to modernize and streamline the country’s passport application and delivery systems.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to serving citizens “efficiently, conveniently, and with pride,” adding that the one-day service underscores its motto For God and Country.
