Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has unveiled a record-breaking prize package for the Ghana Premier League, marking the first time in the competition’s history that the champion will take home ₵2 million.
Speaking at the GFA’s 31st Ordinary Congress in Prampram, Okraku revealed that the runner-up will be awarded ₵1 million.
“ For the first time in the history of Ghana Football, the winner of the League will take home 2 million Ghana Cedis. The runner-up will receive a million Ghana Cedis. Second runner up 800,000 Ghana Cedis….”.
Previously the winner of the Ghana premier league received GHC 250,000.
The announcement signals a major financial boost for clubs, aimed at improving competitiveness and rewarding excellence in the domestic league.
