Ghana has secured a ¥1.92 billion (approximately $13 million) grant from the Government of Japan to enhance electricity supply in Tamale City.

The agreement was sealed through an Exchange of Notes signed on Monday, March 10, between Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Japan’s Ambassador to Ghana, Yoshimoto Hiroshi.

Announcing the grant on Facebook, Mr. Ablakwa emphasized its significance, noting that it reflects the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations.

“This project and many others under discussion highlights the outstanding bond of friendship between Ghana and Japan,” he wrote.

The grant aims to improve electricity stability in Tamale and surrounding areas, addressing frequent power fluctuations that have disrupted businesses and households.
