Director of Communications for the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Sylvester Sarpong Soprano, has said that the achievements of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah continues to serve Ghana.

His statement was in response to comments made by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), last week at his unveiling as the NPP flagbearer’s running mate in Kumasi. “Since Ghana’s independence in 1957 no president has performed better than President Akufo-Addo; not even your Nkrumah.” NAPO said

Speaking at a press conference organized on Monday, July 15, 2024 – at the Ghana International Press Centre, Soprano indicated that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah established many projects that have been beneficial to a variety of sectors across the nation. “The ‘Project Ghana’ as called by the President is broken into two parts – decolonization and the socialist transformation- a reconstruction of the nation’s economy. President Kwame Nkrumah made the first part possible but Ghana has been forced to accept extremely and politically dangerous measures in order to secure economic assistance from our colonizers.”

According to Soprano, projects such as the Akosombo Dam catered for a population of 5 million Ghanaians at the time, and has done for more citizens decades after.

He added that these establishments and projects were all done in the absence of technology unlike the present government headed by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“In light of all these projects that have helped Ghana, context is very important over here; it is important to note that there was no internet at the time; if technology was present in the era of the CPP and President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, like the way
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo does, we would have transformed the country from a third-world country to a first-world country within a short period of time.” He stated.
