Ghana striker Raphael Dwamena coy on Schalke 04 move talks

Ghana forward Raphael Dwamena has denied any knowledge of the reports linking him to German Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Reports went rife on Monday that the Royal Blues have opened talks with the Ghana international for a possible move in the summer following his impressive performance for FC Zurich in the just ended Swiss Super League.
The report further suggested that Schalke manager Domenico Tedesco is looking to bolster his attacking ranks ahead of their return to the UEFA Champions League next season, and has identified the 22-year-old as an option.
“My team haven’t told me anything yet. I’ve also read it on the web but my team is yet to tell me anything about it so I will treat it as a rumour but I’m crossing my fingers and if it happened to be true then I believe it’ll be the will of God,” Dwamena disclosed to Ohene Bampoe–Brenya on Happy FM‘s Anopa Bosuo Sports from the Black Stars base in Japan.
Dwamena was closed to joining English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion last summer but the deal was called off in the final moments after he was reported to have failed a routine medical.
When asked if the botched move to the Seagulls had an adverse effect on his performance in the just ended campaign for FC Zurich.
“I can’t say it affected my season but normally as a human being it will affect you a little bit but like I believe life without challenges is no life.”
“I’ve moved on from all that happened last year. By God’s grace we’ve qualified for the Europa league so I’m looking forward to it.
In the just ended season, Dwamena, who can play in any position across the frontline, made 32 league appearances involving 28 starts for Zurich, scoring nine times.
Dwamena who joined Zurich from Austria Lustenau, last year, scored a combined 30 goals over the course of last season.
He is expected to lead the line for the Black Stars in their international friendly clash against the Blue Samurai of Japan on Wednesday.
