Ghanaian Footballer dies after being knocked down by a motorcycle

Ghanaian footballer, Abdul Malik Issah Yakubu died on Friday after he was knocked down by a motorcycle while jogging.

The New Edubiase player passed on at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi where he was taken after the accident.

His demise was confirmed by the Vice-President of New Edubiase, Alex Ackumey in an interview on Wamputu Sports with Odi Asempa on Happy FM.

According to Ackumey, he received a call on Friday morning about the incident.

“Yakubu was knocked down by a motorcycle as he got out from his house with a colleague to jog. Blood was running from his nose after the accident”.

He explained that Yakubu condition was critical and he had to be transferred to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) have expressed their condolenseces to the bereaved and his family.

(1) The Ghana Football Association has learnt with sadness the passing of Andul Malik Issah Yakubu, a player of New Edubiase FC, who died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi after he was knocked down by a motorcycle while jogging this morning.

Yakubu was buried on Saturday per the Islamic rules
