Ghana’s Paralympic team have disappeared into thin air after landing in Norway for the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon in Oslo.

According to a statement released by the government and sighted by Happy Sports, the team fled after an allegation of impersonation upon arrival in Norway.

The statement signed by National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah revealed that the 11-member team were expected to take part in the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon on April 27, 2024.

Team Ghana arrived in Norway on April 25, 2024, but they didnt show up for the two day tournament as they didn’t even register for the tournament after landing in the country.

However, one member of the team identified as Nana Antwi is said to have been arrested by Norway security officials as he was escaping to Sweden.

Team coach George Gyamfi Gyasi, reportedly collapsed and passed on at the Oslo University Hospital (ULEVAL) on 28 April 2024. No further details surrounding his death were given.

The remaining 9 members of the team are on the run as the Norwegian Embassy in Accra has informed the Western Diplomatic Missions in Accra and the European Border Coast Guard agency to repatriate and arrest them when caught.
