Give Ayiah a break – Fabin tells critics

in Sports, U17 World Cup

Ghana coach Paa Kwesi Fabin has hit at ‘over the top’ criticism his captain Eric Ayiah has received from a section of the Starlets fans.
The striker has made a substantial impact at the U-17 World Cup in India, scoring 3 goals in 4 games for Ghana.
Ayiah’s profligacy in front of goal has been on the lips of many a follower of the team’s progress.
The Charity FC forward showed much potentials during Ghana’s participation at this year’s Under 17 Afcon in Gabon, guiding the team to silver medal feat.
But the gaffer sees otherwise about his top player who is only two goals away from the current top scorer of the tournament, Amine Gouiri.
“What do they know about him to criticize him, he is our skipper and he is doing well,” Fabin told starrsportsgh.com after the Starlets game against Niger in Mumbai.
He added: “What do they want him to do again, the guy has scored three goals and is doing very well, I don’t even know what else they want from him.”
Eric Ayiah will lead the Black Starlets again when they meet another African opponent in Mali at the quarterfinal stage on Saturday morning.
