Former Youth and Sports Minister Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuje has said that Hearts of Oak Board should hand the team over to him to manage.
Hearts of Oak recently hired the services of American Marketing tycoon, Mark Noonan as Chief Executive Officer and he is alleged to be taking $11,000 per month as salary.
Upon hearing the monthly salary of the newly appointed CEO, Hon. Nii Lante expressed his shock over the reports and dared the ownership of the club to hand him over the reins of the club.
Speaking on Anopa Bosuo Sports on Happy FM, the member of Parliament said “That decision to hire the foreigner is totally unnecessary. Are they telling us we don’t have good managers in Ghana? If they don’t have anyone who can run Hearts of Oak, they should give it to me. I will manage the club to profit,” Hon. Nii Lante asserted.
Speaking to the salary of the new managing director he said, “If it is true that the CEO is taking $11,000 per month, then I can’t fathom. How can you hire an American and pay him 11,000 dollars whiles your playing body and technical team are always paid in areas? Hearts of Oak are paying their players 450 cedis per month and they didn’t see the need to increase the salaries of the main functional part but gone out to hire a foreigner? Even my driver how much does he take a month?” he quizzed.
Hon Nii Lante Vanderpuje was the Youth and Sports Minister under the Mahama led administration in the NDC government. He is the incumbent member of Parliament for Odododiodio constituency in the Greater Accra region. A staunch Hearts of Oak supporter and once a Director of Liberty Professionals.
