Central Regional Minister, Marigold Assan has visited flood victims in Gomoa Okyereko and it’s environs promising them of immediate intervention and relief items.

On 5th May, 2024, the Ayensu river overflowed it banks submerging about 150 homes in Gomoa Mampong and Gomoa Adawukwa after the contractor working on the Kasoa – Cape coast highway blocked the main bridge at Gomoa Okyereko to pave way for the construction of an ultramodern bridge.

The move by the contractor has caused serious mayhem on the highway as the river has overtopped the bridge, flooding communities.

The Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan stated that considering the loss of properties and devastation caused by the floods, urgent interventions will be made to bring relief to those affected.

She also assured of relief items from NADMO to support the affected victims.

Regional NADMO Director, Isaac Mensah urged all the affected victims to remain calm.
He entreated the people not to build in waterlogged areas to help avert such circumstances.
