The Ministry of Interior has announced a night curfew for Nkwanta Township in the Oti Region following a surge in violence in the area.

The curfew, effective from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am started on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, aims to restore calm and order in the township.

This decision, according to the ministry, was based on advice from the Oti Regional Security Council through an Executive Instrument.

The government has urged residents to exercise restraint and utilize established mechanisms for resolving conflicts and disputes.
