The 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season commences with a big opener between Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak at the Nana Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa on Saturday, November 14, 2020.

The domestic top-flight returns after an eight-month break due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country.

The previous meeting between the two sides in the truncated league ended in a draw with both sides sharing the point.

Aduana Stars will be missing their talisman Yahaya Mohammed who has been ruled out of the clash due to injury.

Hearts of Oak will also be without their lead striker Abednego Tetteh after the player continues to be in isolation after contracting the coronavirus.

The Phobians will be hoping to kick start their campaign on a good note with a win against the ‘Ogya lads’ as they target to end their Ghana Premier League title drought this season.

Hearts coach Edward Nii Odoom has also promised to win the league title for the fans.

“We are promising them that this year will be a very good year for Phobia fans. The players are very determined and their attitude towards training has been perfect.

“Hearts of Oak will win the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League and break the jinx that has been with us for the past 10 years”, he concluded.

Aduana Stars captain Yahaya Mohammed despite being ruled out of the game said a win against Hearts of Oak will cushion their chances of winning this season’s league title.

Elsewhere, Asante Kotoko will parade their star-studded side against Techiman Eleven Wonders in their opening game of the campaign on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors have adopted the Accra Sports Stadium as their temporal home venue due to ongoing works at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The 23-time league champions will be without Brazilian Fabio Gama who is yet to join the club after signing for them.

Ghana’s all-time leading top scorer Asamoah Gyan will not feature for Legon Cities in their opening fixture against Berekum Chelsea on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The 34-year old in an interview stated he is not ready for the Ghana Premier League with the season starting tomorrow.

“To be honest, I am not ready, I am not fully fit to play, he told TV3’s Juliet Bawuah.

“I think I will need time, am trying to put myself back to shape, you know is being a long time I played, I have been off the pitch for a long time.

“But am still working hard and hopefully I will be able to get myself read as time goes on”, he added.

The Ghana Football Association has announced the number of fans that will be admitted at the various league venue per the 25 per cent directives from the government on football restart amid the coronavirus pandemic.
