In an effort to resolve the ongoing nationwide strike, the Ministry of Health is currently engaged in a closed-door meeting with the leadership of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA)and other key stakeholders.
The outcome of this discussion will determine whether the industrial action is called off or continues in the coming days.
Speaking in an interview, the Public Relations Officer for the Ministry, Tony Goodman, noted that, the ministry hopes the nurses will accept the terms being discussed and agree to resume work.
“This meeting aligns with what the minister has been advocating for over the past few days—returning to the table for discussion. Thankfully, the GRNMA leadership accepted the plea and are here”.
“We hope that by the time this meeting concludes, there will be a fruitful resolution for them to call off the strike. Their presence alone is a positive signal, as they could have refused to engage, yet they saw reason in what the minister proposed.”
