President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) has regained international recognition following its strong performance in 2025, attracting renewed investor confidence and fresh listings on the market.

According to the President, the achievements of the GSE were acknowledged by the London Stock Exchange during his recent working visit to the United Kingdom, where he was invited to ring the market-opening bell.

President Mahama said the gesture reflected growing global confidence in Ghana’s capital market and its recent successes.

“One of the high points of my visit to London was the London Stock Exchange. I was given the privilege to press the button for the exchange to start. We were given that honour because of the performance of the Ghana Stock Exchange in 2025,” he said while addressing journalists after returning from London on Tuesday, June 9.

He added, “It was adjudged one of the best-performing stock exchanges after South Africa. After a long time of scarcity, it has started listing again. First Atlantic Bank, listed recently, as well as ZEN Petroleum, and they are preparing to list Kasapreko.”

President Mahama arrived in London on May 31 for a high-level working visit aimed at strengthening economic relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom, promoting investment opportunities, and engaging members of the Ghanaian diaspora.

The President noted that renewed investor confidence in Ghana’s economy has already translated into new listings on the Ghana Stock Exchange, with First Atlantic Bank and Zen Petroleum joining the market, while Kasapreko Company Limited is preparing for its own listing.

The Ghana Stock Exchange maintained its impressive performance throughout 2025. In October alone, 15 listed companies recorded gains, reinforcing the market’s position as one of the best-performing stock exchanges on the African continent.

The October 2025 Market Summary also showed strong trading activity on the equity market, an indication that investor confidence in Ghana’s capital market remains high.
