As part of the measures to bring the payment of water bills closer to the customer, the management of Ghana Water Company Limited (GCWL) has introduced a paperless system that allows for the payment of monthly bills by mobile money platforms.
With the introduction of the paperless system, customers of the company will now receive their bills by text messages on their mobile phones.
Mr. Stanley Martey, Communications Manager of GWCL gave a vivid description of the paperless process in an interview with Kwame Afrifa Mensah host of ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ on Accra- based Happy FM’s afternoon socio-political programme.
He says GWCL with the vision of becoming a world class utility company has eliminated the presentation of paper bills in the country.
He said now customers of GWCL will have their bills read with an android device that will send their consumption details via text message onto their mobile phone devices.
He noted the system will allow customers to make payments by the following mobile money platforms namely Vodafone cash and Tigo cash across the country.
According to him, now customers can dial *171# to choose payment options or use their Visa cards as well as walk to any bank to have their bills paid.
