Happy FM unveils comprehensive coverage for AFCON 2023

Happy 98.9 FM, Ghana’s premier sports radio station, has officially announced its extensive coverage for the highly anticipated 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The station is geared up to provide an unparalleled experience for its listeners during the continent’s most significant sporting event of the year.

Distinguished and learned sports personalities are set to join the Happy 98.9 FM team as pundits, ensuring insightful and engaging commentary throughout the tournament. The station is leaving no stone unturned in bringing the excitement of AFCON 2023 to its audience.

Ohene Bampoe-Brenya, Head of Sports at Happy 98.9 FM during the launch held today, 13 December 2023 at the Ghana Tourism Information Centre expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming coverage, stating, “We are thrilled to bring our listeners the best possible experience of AFCON 2023. Our team of experts and pundits will deliver in-depth analysis and commentary, making Happy 98.9 FM the go-to destination for all things AFCON.”

AFCON 2023 is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Ivory Coast, where 24 teams will vie for the prestigious continental title. This marks the second time the Africa Cup of Nations finals will be organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Côte d’Ivoire.

In the group stage, the Black Stars of Ghana are set to face formidable opponents, including record champions Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.

The tournament, consisting of 52 matches, will be hosted in five cities: Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouaké, San-Pedro, and Korhogo. To further enhance the fan experience, Happy 98.9 FM has planned exciting viewing centres across the capital, creating hubs for supporters to come together and cheer for their favourite teams.
