Happy FM’s head of Sport, Odiasempa Kwame Oware has confirmed that the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi is being interrogated at the Ghana Police Headquaters.
Nyantakyi, who doubles as 1st vice president for the Confederation of African Footbal (CAF), arrived Wednesday morning from Morocco, and headed straight to the police headquaters to assist the police in investigation over a fraud allegation leveled against him by president Nana Akufo-Addo. This follows an investigative piece by ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
“Nyantakyi arrived at the airport at 11:45 with emirate airline and turned himself in to the police CID,” he told Happy FM’s Epa Hoa Daben Show.
“When he arrived at the airport, a private vehicle picked him up to the police Headquarters, he didn’t speak to anyone apart from his lawyer.”
Mr Nyantakyi is alleged to have used the name of the President and Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia to solicit millions of dollars in bribe, prompting the report to the police for investigations.
“His wife together with his lawyer and some GFA officials were present at the CID. We don’t know whether he will be granted bail or not because they are still locked up in a crunch meeting with the CID.”
Odiasempa Kwame Oware painted a vivid picture of real-time happenings at the Police Headquaters during a phone interview with Kwame Afrifa-Mensah on Happy FM‘s Epa Hoa Daben Show.
