Happy98.9FM has received a heartwarming citation of honour from Founder of Save the Eye Foundation, Moses Derry who is visually impaired and has been a recurring guest on Happy On Wheels, the station’s community-driven outreach initiative.

Mr. Derry, who has used the platform to share his inspiring life story and sensitized the public on the importance of early eye care, expressed profound appreciation to the station for amplifying his voice and supporting his advocacy work.

Part of the citation read: “I appreciate the incredible platform you have given me, a space where my voice as a person with disability has not only been heard but valued. Through your HappyOnWheels initiative, you have redefined what it means to be inclusive. You have brought broadcasting into the heart of communities, making space for real stories, real struggles and real impact. I am honored to have been part of that journey.”

The Happy On Wheels initiative has over the years provided a mobile, community-centered broadcasting experience, highlighting stories from various groups, including persons with disabilities, while addressing social challenges and driving meaningful engagement.

Receiving the citation on behalf of the station, the Happy98.9FM team led by Kwadwo Sefah -Danquah expressed gratitude to Mr. Derry and reaffirmed the station’s commitment to using radio as a tool for empowerment, social inclusion, and community development.

“We are deeply humbled by this honour. On behalf of the entire HappyFM team, I want to thank Moses Derry for his courage, his advocacy, and the inspiration he brings to our listeners. This citation reminds us why we do what we do to give every voice a place to be heard and to use our platform to drive real impact in our communities. We are grateful for the partnership”
