Veep condemns sexual misconduct in Senior High Schools, says transfers are not punishment

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang haa called on Ghanaians to turn grief over the August 6 military helicopter crash into unity, sober reflection, and a renewed drive for national progress.

At the Evening of Reflection and Memorial for the eight victims at the Forecourt of the State House on Saturday, she said no words could capture the magnitude of the loss.

“This is not a time for perfect words nor for the right thoughts, because there are none,” she told the gathering, adding that the fallen “served their nation and humanity well.”

She recalled personal moments with some of the victims now cherished memories and noted the sorrow that touches families, colleagues, and even strangers moved by the tragedy.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang urged Ghanaians to avoid political point-scoring or assigning blame. She called for “attention to detail and to facts” to prevent future tragedies.

She also challenged the nation to break down the “unhelpful barriers we consciously build and maintain unity saying , “unity must prevail in times of crisis.
